Meet NQJC

I am a little more than SuziHomemaker and NotQuiteJuneCleaver. A wife and mother for 30+ years I have worn many hats in the past three decades. Wife, mother, gardener, writer, teacher, baker, butcher, candlestick maker! I have co-owned and operated a catering business called Kneadful Things with my daughters and mother. I have owned and operated a successful soapmaking business and have one self published cookbook, Christmas Traditions, and one soapmaking manual, Soapmaking 101, to my credit. I am from a family of extraordinary cooks, and married into a family of extraordinary cooks.

I don’t know exactly why I need a blog. Maybe its that whole “everybody’s doing it” kinda thing. I have things to say…but nothing terribly urgent. But as most women, I can always figure out something to talk about.  I am all about being at home. In my cozy little green house at the end of the dirt road. My best days are when I don’t leave this place. I have lived in this house longer than I have lived anywhere in my life and I have fond memories of it though the oldest are only a decade old. We fondly call our home The Rose Cottage. This is where I write, sew, cook, teach, make soap and play in the dirt. My husband and I have/are raising six children. Yes, that is correct ~ 6. And we have one little grandson, Sam.

I have goals in life. Though at my age I must admit to revamping that area of my life many times. I have such a cushy, easy life its hard to want more, to be more. I am content…happy…fulfilled…I love and I feel loved. Of course there are hard times and heartaches but the good in my life far outweighs any of that. I do enjoy what I do…what I am.

If I had to do something besides what I do…or better yet in addition to what I do, it would be to write a book or two or five about homekeeping. Food…sewing…keeping…gardening. Yeah, I know it has all been done. But not from my perspective.

So this blog will be my starting point. Favorite recipes, household helps, gardening, making things, family life and my feline friends.

There is immeasurable value in what I do.

I won’t ever believe otherwise.

  • Your house is adorable. It looks so warm and cozy.

Kind of like your site. I enjoyed visiting here. I will definitely be back.

  • Nice to meet you!

  • After reading a bit of your blog (what little bit of empathy I have in my heart goes to you, dear) and reading your “me” section, I have come to a decision.

I want to be you when I grow up. If I have to grow up. :)

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I love your site! You remind me of my own mom, I love the way you are content with your life and that you enjoy the simple things, something I think my generation needs to learn from. I aspire to be a wonderful homemaker like mom and women like you. I can’t wait until you write a book! Mahalo~

  • What a PLEASURE it is to “meet” you!

I am blessed to have a wonderfully tight-knit group of online friends who LOVE aprons, homemaking, crafting, cooking, gardening, and fellowship. I cannot wait to share a link to your blog with them. I’m sure we’ll all be stopping by for visits to your charming blog.

    Blessings… *Linda*
