My Thoughts on Aprons…pssss and a GIVEAWAY!!!
Aprons hold a special place on my list of “favorite things”. I can’t remember not using an apron. I believe going into the kitchen without an apron is like going into town naked…it shouldn’t be done!
Aprons not only protect your clothes but they give you a sense of purpose, a tool of my trade, if you like. And for me, a apron brings up the sweetest memories of times I spent in the kitchen with the women I love. My grannies, aunts, my mom, my daughters and one day maybe my granddaughters. Who knows maybe even great granddaughters! There is a peg in my kitchen where my favorite aprons hang and with them hangs the first apron I ever wore. A tiny little apron made especially for me by my great grandmother when I was but a year old. What a treasure! Its almost as if my great grandmother knew straight-away who I would be one day…a wife, mother, grandmother…one who cooks and bakes almost every day. Oh, and occasionally I make someone else a special apron.
I just got the sweetest patterns in the mail. Both are copyrighted so I can’t make and sell these aprons, but I think it would be perfectly fine for me to make one and give it away. Especially if I share with you where you can buy the pattern for yourself. I have emailed the pattern maker to be sure it is okay, and if it is, well I will make one for one last give away before my big adventure to France.
Now if for some reason using the pattern in this way is a no-no, then I will make one from my own patterns…in any event, this is an announcement for a Giveaway! I will be working on the apron next week so stay tuned for pictures! If you want to be entered in this giveaway just leave me a comment saying so and I will add your name to that famous Mason jar! I’d love to enter your giveaway! I bought myself and apron on my honeymoon and I wear it when I quilt on my longarm. I love it. I also have some frilly Christmas aprons that were my mom’s. I remember my mother and grandmother wearing aprons, although I don’t do it myself. Looking at my clothes, maybe I should!

Aloha!! I totally love Aprons, growing up with a family bakery we wore them all the time. Whenever we would do anything in the kitchen, mom would remind me to “put on an Apron”. I love the memories you have shared they remind me of my childhood! Me too!! I love aprons. Don’t sew very well but bought an apron simplicity pattern (easy to sew)-cut it out for my friends’ birthday (who sews like the wind) and let it sit till her birthday-then gave it to her to sew! She loves me anyway!!

I looove aprons and I’m becoming quite obsessed(in a good way) with them! I spent much of Friday and Saturday in one whilst I picked up around the house and did some cooking. I swear it made it much more bearable to be doing housework.

Please enter my name in your giveaway! I SO enjoyed reading your blog. I started wearing aprons when I was a baby…”helping” my grandma in the kitchen. Every time I put on my apron I catch a whiff of Grandma’s pie crust cookies (cinnamon & sugar sprinkled on pie crust scraps) baking in the oven. I am lucky enough to still have my grandma, but when I don’t, those apron memories will be even sweeter.

Aprons! I love them and do wear them almost every day. My everyday ones are starting to look very rough! (: My others are vintage ones that are too pretty to wear. I like to launder them and iron them and then display them according to the seasons colors so others may appreciate them as well.

Hi, What a fun giveaway. My aunt always wore them and believe it or not, she always looked classy in them. Of course, my grandmother wore won all of the time my dad tells me to gather up things in. Baby chickens when it would start raining, vegetables from the garden, etc. My mom wore aprons when I was very young. My mother-in-law wears them during the holidays! I collect unique older ones.
